Our Instructors & Staff Members

Our Instructors have spent many years devoted to training in the art of Kenpo and other martial arts and have attained a certain level of expertise to qualify them as teachers and also mentors.

Through extensive testing, certification and tournament level competition, our staff has attained mastery in this martial art and now enjoy sharing their skill and passing it on to their students.

Here are a few of Nexus Kenpo Martial Arts's instructors and other staff members, starting with Louie Jiles:

Louie Jiles  (Shichidan/ Chief Instructor) 
Master Louie Jiles has a passion for teaching martial arts. Improving students confidence, self defense skills and fitness are his goal. Master Jiles is also a paramedic whose career in emergency medical service spans over two decades and includes experience as a 911 paramedic captain, a regional general manager of multiple 911 EMS jurisdictions and medical transport sevices. This experience in emergency scene management has aided Master Jiles in the improvement of his skills in teaching contact combat arts.  Master Jiles believes proactive self defense training provides students with the tools and skills needed to maintain confidence and fitness in todays world.

Master Jiles began Kenpo training in 1972, under Frank Wood through the Tracy's International Studios of Self Defense that were established in the greater Atlanta area by Master James Stewart and Darryl Escalante. Visiting kenpo masters included J.T. Will, "Crazy" Ken Maguire and American Kickboxing legend Joe Lewis, and American Karate, point tournament, and full contact promoter Joe Corley. A notable celebrity student of the era was local basketball legend "Pistol" Pete Maravich, who practically lived at the Tracy's HQ studio on Lindbergh Avenue.

Master Jiles started teaching Kenpo in 1974. Master Jiles also teaches Yang Tai Chi Chuan. Master Jiles has been a continuing presence in the Kenpo community, and a respected teacher and competition fighter since the 1970's. He has been recognized for his contributions, including:
Charter Member of the International Kenpo Hall of Fame 2007.
